I have really been wanting to get into doing birth photography for quite some time. And I’ve approached several friends about allowing me to photograph the birth of their baby. And almost all of them have been quite apprehensive and so far only two have taken me up on the offer. Most people can’t imagine why in the world you would want pictures of that. I suppose they think that I’m going to take photos of the baby crowning or something, which is not what I would do at all. A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of being in the room when Shelbi made her grand appearance into this world.

So if you think that birth photography is just weird or something that only free spirited hippie type people would consider I really want you to take a look at these pictures with an open mind. This sweet child’s first appearance…first breath is captured forever.

You will want to capture as much of your child’s life as you can so why not start with this? What I wouldn’t give to have pictures like this of my son’s first moments of life. I hope that this has opened your eyes to the beauty of birth photography.
