Why Birth Photography? – Lake Jackson, TX newborn photographer

I have really been wanting to get into doing birth photography for quite some time. And I’ve approached several friends about allowing me to photograph the birth of their baby. And almost all of them have been quite apprehensive and so far only two have taken me up on the offer. Most people can’t imagine why in the world you would want pictures of that. I suppose they think that I’m going to take photos of the baby crowning or something, which is not what I would do at all. A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of being in the room when Shelbi made her grand appearance into this world.

So if you think that birth photography is just weird or something that only free spirited hippie type people would consider I really want you to take a look at these pictures with an open mind. This sweet child’s first appearance…first breath is captured forever.

You will want to capture as much of your child’s life as you can so why not start with this? What I wouldn’t give to have pictures like this of my son’s first moments of life. I hope that this has opened your eyes to the beauty of birth photography. This lovely young lady is our real estate agent and friend. She has been lucky enough to know us and our family for like 10 years or more…I have no idea. Anyway, she needed some shots for advertising purposes and just for the because of it. And I think she’s got to be the hippest (and hottest) real estate agent in town. And more importantly, she’s really great at her job.

Usually after a shoot I feel compelled to get a few sneak peeks up on this blog before I can do anything else. Facebook has allowed me to put up sneaks for people and so I’ve gotten a little lazy about putting them up here but it has still been hovering over me like a dark cloud. Okay that’s a bit melodramatic but you catch my drift. So…I’m about to post a few sessions that I’ve gotten behind on. And then I’ll feel much more at ease.

I was finally able to photograph a birth this evening! It was so awesome. This momma is my new hero. There just aren’t even words to describe how amazingly calm and controlled she was during this birth. Lisa and Mark thank you so much for allowing me to be there. What an honor!
