Oh Mikey how can you ever know just how much you mean to me…

I’ve met and photographed many children and I still say that this beautiful son of mine is still the hardest to photograph. A few others have come close but he still wears the crown.

I put my pretty little BOY in purple this morning for church. He just looked so cute that I decided to take him out to our local Community College to snap some pictures. He was really quite cooperative considering…he’s Mikey and all. He’s just so pretty I guess I can sort of understand how people sometimes think he’s a girl.

Especially when I dress him in purple.

Adoption is very close to our hearts in this family.  Our youngest son, Micah (Mikey) is adopted.  We understand the added joys, worries, and complexities that come with adopting a child.  And so I would like to set aside some time to honor other families with adopted children.  During the months of June-August, I would love to fill my calendar and this blog with beautiful families who have come together through the miracle of adoption.

This morning I decided to try a little shoot with my own boys out at Varner Hogg.  I had to go out there anyway because I left my white fuzzy bath mat there when I did pictures of the sisters last week.  It seemed like such a waste to drive all the way out there and then not take any pictures of anybody.  So we packed up the boys and drove out there to let them run around.  I figured if I managed to get any decent pictures of Mikey it would be worth the trip.  And lo and behold…..

I can’t even believe my own eyes.  And guess what??  There are even more!  But I really need to work on client orders today so I don’t have time to work on these right now.  I just had to post a couple.  I only managed to get one picture of both boys in the frame without Mikey screaming or blurry.  And it’s not great, but it exists.  Sometimes you just have to let your wishes go and take what the kids give you.  There will be more of my boys in a few days after I’m caught up on some other stuff.

Occasionally, our youngest son, Mikey, will allow my camera in the same room with him.  Tonight was one of those rare occasions.  He only tried to take the camera from me twice.  And he only tried to hit my lens with a toy once.  Not too bad.  He really can be just the sweetest thing.
